Donovan Philip Wylie
Alias: X-O Manowar
Known by Project: X-O
David Wylie (father)
Martha Wylie (mother, deceased)
Megan Wylie (sister)
Donovan grew up on army bases, his family following his father's career. Only a few details have been revealed, but Donavan evidently hated everything his father stood for even when was a kid . As a kid Wylie was exceptionally gifted with an IQ off the chart. By the age of 13 he had a Ph.D. and a nervous breakdown a year after that .
Donovan Wylie was working on Projekt: X-O with Rand Banion, the next to don the X-O armor after the Teutonic Knight. Being a genius he was put on the team to find out how the armor worked and how to make the armor work for the US army .
Wylie succeeded in understanding how the armor worked, and Rand Banion merged with the armor. Upon Banion's first use of the armor, Wylie discovered he had made an oversight. Rand Banion was fearless and the armor picked up on emotions like fear and self-preservation. Having no fear, the armor didn't protect Banion sufficiently during his attack on R.A.G.E. and he was killed . Wylie was at the attack site monitoring Banion's attack and took the emblem, from which the X-O armor grew; in order to make sure R.A.G.E. didn't get hold on the armor. Running from R.A.G.E. he ended up in their flying fortress, from which he fell again shortly after while running from R.A.G.E. soldiers. Falling down to certain death, Wylie merged with the X-O armor to save himself .
The military didn't like Donovan Wylie being bonded to their property and Wylie didn't like being bonded to the armor. They made a deal. Wylie would go on missions he and the army agreed on and Wylie would be given free rein in the army's labs working on getting free of the armor .
In the following time Wylie went on several missions with his partner from his company Brainstorm Technologies, Renata, as backup for information. During his time with the armor Donovan discovered that he was more of a fighter than he originally thought. The realization made him reconcile with his father whom he had cut all bonds with years earlier .
After having been bonded to the armor for some time Wylie started to get the impression that he wasn't alone in the armor . In his sleep he encountered several aliens, among them the Masters of Unity , and later Rand Banion and some of the other previous user of the X-O armor .
When the Masters of Unity came to Earth, Wylie was automatically involved being the one who wore the X-O armor. The Unity wanted to make Earth a part of Unity, ending disease, poverty, war etc. Unfortunately joining Unity would also mean no individualism, no freedom and a sterile soulless world. Wylie ended up fighting the Unity defeating both Malakai and the masters of Unity helped by Amok, Bravado and Magnus [6-8].
Wylie was last seen trying to get his life back in order after a search inside both himself and the X-O armor .
Skills & abilities:
Donovan Wylie was merged with the X-O armor which gave him flight, super strength and invulnerability. The armor also had wrist blasters, cloaking, and x-ray vision.
