Story: Proteus was originally a virus created by Yoshi Iwatsu and released into the Internet to return and destroy nano-technology [2].

The virus returned from the future, as a nanite robot, with the intention of killing Bloodshot, and to get the blood of heroes. Indications are it came from around 2045-2055 A.D [1].

Having faulted in stopping Bloodshot, Proteus changed his objective to populating the earth with nanite beings. He changed the twins of Bloodshot and Jillian Alcott into nanite beings like himself [3]. The plan was stopped as Bloodshot destroyed Proteus with an antivirus developed for the Proteus virus [4].


Skills & abilities: Proteus body is made from nanites, making his body malleable. He is a learning machine, making him able to learn from mistakes and adapt to situations. One of the ways of learning for Proteus is absorbing things e.g. humans.
