Story: Theodore Marley Brooks earned his law-degree at Harvard and was one of Harvard's most astute graduates.

During The Great War he met Andrew Blodgett Mayfair, Monk. Before a ceremony Brooks taught Monk a few French words to compliment a visiting general. The words were actually insulting obscenities which landed Monk in the brig. When he got out, Monk stole a truckload of pigs and framed Brooks for the crime, a frame-up that Brooks could never prove and which gave him his nickname Ham.

In his never-ending feud with Monk, Ham acquired a pet during one of his adventures with Doc Savage, a gorilla-like simian that he named Chemistry. He also enjoys telling the women that Monk is trying to impress that Monk has a wife and 13 half-witted children at home.

Hams attire is always the latest in fashion. It has been said that tailors have been known to follow him down the street just to see how clothes should be worn.


Equipment: Ham accentuates his attire with an innocent looking black cane, which conceals a sword made of high tempered steel. The tip of the blade is coated with a drug of Monk's invention, which produces instant unconsciousness.
