Story: Lieutenant Joe Higgins was station in Afganistan, where he and his platoon were ambushed, and Higgins was mortally wounded. He was flown to a medical facility where medical specialists saved his life by cybernetically enhancing him. Two of the specialists, as it was revealed, were Higgins' father and Robert Dickering [Red Circle: The Shield #1].

After recouperating, Higgins was sent back into the service in Afganistan. He was given the name The Shield, but his identity was publicly known to boost morale among the soldiers [Red Circle: The Shield #1].


Skills & abilities: Enhanced strenght, speed and endurance, some degree of invulnerability, limited flight capability, enhanced sight with access to the spectrum from infrared to ultraviolet, and the ability to monitor radio frequencies.
