Story: Jan Arrah was the sole survivor of the planet Trom. Pirates led by a man named Roxxas tried to enslave the inhabitants, but they fought back and Jan Arrah was the only survivor. As a young man, Jan joined the Legion of Super-Heroes. At first he didn't want to reveal his true powers and called himself Mystery Lad. However after catching the pirates that had destroyed Trom, Jan did reveal his powers to the Legion, who agreed that it would be best to keep his powers a secret [Adventure Comics #307].


Skills & abilities: Jan Arrah has the ability to transmute elements. The ability include being able to sense the elemental structure of anything. There are some yet unknown limitations to the quantities that he can transform before exhaustion sets in, and the transmutations appear to be limited to one or two simultaneous transmutations at the time.

As a Legionnaire Jan has completed the Legion's personal combat training, but he is not a particularly good fighter.
